I watched the Netflix series “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo” and feel inspired to get organized. Where do I start?

The beauty of the KonMari Method is that anyone can do it with commitment, hard work and accountability. What’s important is to start, first with clothing, then books, papers, Komono (miscellaneous categories, including kitchen, and lastly, sentimental items. If/when you get stuck along the way or have questions the show or Marie Kondo’s book “The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up” can’t answer, a Consultant is the next best thing to Marie Kondo herself. We help you get “unstuck”, train you in folding and storage techniques and help you hone your decision-making so that your space represents your ideal lifestyle, who you are and what you love.

 

What is the KonMari Method?

Marie Kondo, author of “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up”, created the approach to organizing known as the KonMari Method. 
Instead of decluttering little-by-little, which often results in moving things from one pile (or room) to another, the method encourages a category-by-category approach to organizing, keeping only those things that speak to the heart. Discard items that have outlived their purpose; thank them for their service – then let them go. The method also places great importance on being mindful, introspective and forward-looking, which leads to lasting results.

How can I show you my mess when I feel so overwhelmed, ashamed and embarrassed?

Practically every client feels overwhelmed. The first step is to ask for help and guidance. As a Professional Organizer, I want to help you improve your surroundings and your life. Honestly, not much shocks me. Over the years I have seen just about every situation imaginable. There is no reason to feel shame and embarrassment if you are genuinely attempting to improve your life.

 

What is the extent of services you provide?

Modern Refresh is a personally developed in-home decluttering and organizing service, inspired by the KonMari Method. We teach clients the fundamentals and how to apply them to organize and revitalize your favorite space – or the one that needs the most work.

 

How long will it take?

The time it will take to organize a designated space or category varies from client to client. It is completely dependent on the process agreed upon, the amount of belongings, and amount of time it takes the client to make decisions about their belongings. Once we get a better idea of what you’d like to get organized, your goals and availability, we can help you pick the method and/or package of sessions that best fits you. 

What can I expect in each session?

Each session is typically between 4 and 6 hours, based on the client’s needs and schedule. This amount of time ensures the client will see and experience meaningful results by the end of their first session. We will work together closely and collaboratively throughout the process using the principles of the KonMari Method to uplift your space.

What happens to everything i want to get rid of?

Donate. Trash. Sell. We support donations! Let us take care of your donations for FREE. If you have a preferred place of donation, let us know and we will do our best to follow through with your request. We will connect you with a hauling service if you’d like to get rid of any large items and pieces of furniture.

Will my information remain confidential?

Absolutely. I provide a professional and confidential service and will not disclose client details to any third parties.  

I want a family member to join me for the decluttering process. What happens if they do not want to participate?

In order for the method to work, each member must be an active participant. If there is a family member who is unwilling or not interested in coming alongside you for your tidying adventure, their spaces or shared spaces inside a home will be avoided during the decluttering and organizing process.

What is your cancellation policy?

For a full refund, a client must cancel with at least 48 hours notice. Cancellations made within 48 hours will incur a 25% cancellation fee. The remaining balance is not refundable but may be applied towards a future lesson.

What payments are accepted?

I accept Cash, Check, Credit/Debit cards, PayPal & Venmo & Zelle.
